10 Behavioural traits that attract Failure
10 Behavioural traits that attract Failure
We usually come across many articles that list out the steps to be taken to be successful and happy. Quite often even after following those steps, we don't taste the desired success and we keep wondering why we aren't happy or successful. it may be worth observing if we are doing something that shouldn't be done along with the necessary positive steps we take. so here we take a look at a few of the behavioral traits or habits that we need to drop completely while we march towards happiness. Check if you need to drop one or more from this list.
1.Procrastination:
Delaying tasks and responsibilities, leading to stress and missed opportunities.
Correction: Develop time management skills, break tasks into smaller steps, and set realistic deadlines.
2.Negative Self-Talk:
Engaging in self-critical and pessimistic thoughts that erode confidence. This is quite common and sounds harmless in the beginning but surely leads to major inactivity and subsequent failure.
Correction: Cultivate positive affirmations, focus on strengths, and challenge negative thoughts with evidence of success.
3.Lack of Goal Setting:
Not having clear, achievable goals can result in a lack of direction.
Correction: Set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals and create a plan to achieve them.
4.Fear of Failure:
Allowing fear to paralyze action and hinder personal and professional growth.
Correction: Embrace failure as a learning opportunity, shift focus from perfection to progress, and adopt a growth mind-set.
5.Isolation:
Withdrawing from social connections can lead to loneliness and hinder personal development. This is also quite common wherein the young students avoid family socials and remain confined to their own rooms and personal spaces. This comes across as a major challenge to have a smooth transition from educational life to professional life.
Correction: Foster positive relationships, seek support when needed, and engage in social activities.
6.Overlooking Health and Well-being:
Ignoring physical and mental health can impact overall well-being. Enough has been said on this and almost every parent has something to complain about their ward on this front these days.
Correction: Prioritize regular exercise, balanced nutrition, sufficient sleep, and mental health practices. The only secret to avoid health related complexities is to get out of the comfort and exercise . it may be in any form. Remember human is not born to be a couch potato. No other creature in this world has damaged himself by physical inactivity as the humans have. So just get out and get going .. pun intended.
7.Resistance to Change:
Resisting change can limit adaptability and hinder progress. One should be flexible and adaptable. Proactive change keeps you in control whereas reactive/forced change leads to stress and anxiety.
Correction: Embrace change as a natural part of life, be open to new experiences, and develop resilience.
8.Blaming Others:
Blaming external factors for failures can lead to a victim mentality. People don’t like the company of a person always playing a victim card and this behaviour may severely damage the career progress as well as the personal and social life of the person.
Correction: Take responsibility for actions, learn from mistakes, and focus on what can be controlled.
9.Lack of Persistence:
Giving up easily in the face of challenges can impede personal and professional growth. Calm seas don’t make skilled sailors and a sailor doesn’t give up sailing in the middle of the sea. The recent times of nuclear families with more comforts and luxury for children fail to chisel out the personality and hence we see many people jumping the ships quite often leading to nowhere.
Correction: Develop perseverance, view challenges as opportunities, and celebrate small victories along the way. Remember it’s the rigour of time and the hardships therein that carve out a brave and unbeatable soldier.
10.Poor Communication:
Ineffective communication can lead to misunderstandings and strained relationships. The ability to talk shouldn’t be mistaken as a communication skill. It's much more than that. However, we still see many young students not able to convey what they know or what they want to convey. We also experience many children losing various opportunities in school/college due to a lack of communication skills.
Correction: Hone communication skills, actively listen, express thoughts clearly, and seek feedback for improvement. Do not underestimate the importance of communication skills. Evaluate yourself and train yourself in communication skills.
These corrections, when implemented, can contribute to overall personal development, resilience, and a more positive and successful life journey.
Do let me know if you resonate with the above thoughts.
