Don't let down the Person in percentage.... your marks are not YOU.

On the eventful morning of 12th May 2023, the jittery feeling of constant anticipation and nervousness of all the 10th and 12th standard student was given a rest with the announcement of The Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) much-awaited Class 10th and Class 12th Result. The board exams were conducted from February 15 to April 5, 2023, by the CBSE. This year, the overall pass percentage of Class 12 has come out to be 87.33%. The pass percentage of girls towers at 90.68 %, while the pass percentage of boys follows not far behind at 84.67%.

Much like every year, the rush will begin, and students will face a completely new section of the world as they party, enjoy, celebrate, shop new clothes for their time in colleges, parents will gift them things they've always wanted, experience exciting times, etc. All of us must please remember, that it is okay to do all of that, despite the marks you've gotten.

The prospect of academic failure can be daunting for many students, but it does not have to hold you back. Building a constructive mindset, bit by bit, thought after thought, realization after realization, is the key to rebounding from and the hollow feeling that students may get if they failed to fulfill their academic hopes. Expressing and feeling such a sadness is normal, but in case of teenagers, we sometimes tend to get too comfortable inside a sympathetic shell.

Students should remember and prioritize relaxing and unwinding first, but it should be with an unwavering focus on the fact that they need to take efforts again. It will be tough since one of the largest impacts of Board marks every year is societal opinions of what students engage in next; but students should stay focused and true to the fact that they will be taking dedicated efforts wherever there is room to improve. We should allow ourselves some indulgence, go visit a friend, take a walk in a park, listen to music, or have our favorite food.

Although we may initially be too disturbed to acknowledge or initiate any “positive spin” in our lives, we must pick ourselves up and go at it again when we can. Once we are ready to face the future again, our success will depend on finding an optimistic perspective. Our motivation stems from our self-talk: the never-ending monologue coursing through our mind in every waking moment, influencing our day and constructing our perspective. Thus, we must make sure that it is a positively affirmational one.

We can all have different ways to relax, but that doesn't mean not doing anything for days on end. We should try and form a balance between allowing our heart to rest from not getting the desired results, and preparing our mind to achieve those desired results.

Just got back from a party? Note down, research and think about what you want to pursue as a career and find out about it, then after that you can switch on that AC and sleep.

Trying constructive things will make us feel better too. We could try and learn to cook, learn how to play an instrument, learn a new language, learn soft skills and hard skills, visit a career counselor, start exercising, etc.

Essentially, all of us must keep going and remember that "This isn't the end. It's not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."
