Top 10 Jobs / Careers in Commerce other than CA/ CS/ Law / MBA

The Number of students opting for commerce  has increased substantially in recent years. It may be either out of reduced interest in science or seemingly out of hope of getting some good job in Industry. Many commerce  students initially dream of and  start preparing for CA / CS or plan for MBA post BCom  or some think of pursuing MPSC / UPSC and some others plan to go for LAW ..

Initially everything seems quite encouraging, but as the years pass and the students face failures in the competitive exams like CA/CS / the interest fades away from the chosen  path of MPSC / UPSC or when they realize that Law isn't that great for them, self doubt starts to creep in ... increasing the confusion, thereby leading to a stressful life.

Unfortunately many universities haven't yet updated the B.com / M.com syllabus to remain effective with changing times and hence as the students are about to complete B.Com and they see no respectable job opportunity. Then they  feel doing M.Com or MBA will surely help them get a great job. Or some feel they would like to do something in finance / equity market and would like to figure it out the  while they do their post graduation.

But looking at the sorry state of MBA  degree holders in the market out there, not to mention, much poorer state of Mcom graduates, the dream of many B.Com graduates is shattered making them feel lost, demotivated  and dejected to say the least. Worse is, they are unable to figures out what to do even after their PG..
So for all such commerce students , here I bring you some ray of hope, some practical guidance, of course, provided you are willing to put in the necessary effort with sincerity .

Let me caution you that mere having any degree be it B.Com, MBA or Engineering is no more  a gateway to any career. The employers out there are looking for  candidates who have the skills that are required by them and unfortunately  most of our traditional colleges do not equip you with job skills.

So you would need to identify what skills you possess that are required in the market (No,  Interest in  Finance with a B.Com degree is not a skill ) . Identify  what you can DO and not just what you know.  if you don't have a good answer then skill up yourself before you think of a job. That may need you to invest some more time and may be some money.

So here is the list of  some of the entry level Job roles out there available in the market provided you  have equipped yourself with the relevant skills.. ( and you can do so while you are persuing your graduation / PG or can do even after that
